Sheikh Hamdan Breaks Ground on ADNOC’s Mega Green Energy Vision: Dh175 Billion to Transform Al Dhafra into a Global Energy Hub!

In a bold stride towards sustainable energy leadership, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for ADNOC’s revolutionary lower-carbon Ruwais LNG project. The event marked a pivotal milestone in the UAE’s journey to becoming a global frontrunner in clean energy innovation and industrial growth.

The Ruwais LNG project, designed to more than double ADNOC’s liquefied natural gas production capacity to over 15 million tons per annum, embodies the nation’s commitment to global energy security and sustainable industrial practices. As Sheikh Hamdan broke ground on this visionary initiative, he also reviewed other transformative ADNOC projects like Borouge 4, Hail and Ghasha, and TA’ZIZ. Together, these projects represent a colossal Dh175 billion investment aimed at redefining the Al Dhafra region as a leading energy trading and advanced industrial hub.

ADNOC’s Hail and Ghasha project is a monumental step toward the UAE’s goal of achieving gas self-sufficiency, with a design rooted in net-zero emissions. Set to produce 1 billion cubic feet of gas daily, it highlights ADNOC’s focus on marrying cutting-edge technology with environmental responsibility. Sheikh Hamdan also toured Borouge 4, which will expand the UAE’s capacity in polyolefin production, positioning the nation as a significant player in global plastics manufacturing.

Equally groundbreaking is the TA’ZIZ initiative, an ambitious chemicals and fuels ecosystem that will not only enhance regional economic diversification but also introduce first-time UAE-made chemicals to the global market.

Speaking at the event, His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, ADNOC’s Managing Director and Group CEO, emphasized the strategic importance of these projects. He praised Sheikh Hamdan’s leadership, noting that the initiatives align with the UAE’s vision of energy innovation, economic growth, and sustainability.

These mega-projects are more than investments—they are a testament to the UAE’s determination to lead the global transition to a sustainable future, setting new benchmarks in energy and industry for generations to come.
