Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) has taken a significant step in promoting the growth of the electric vehicles (EV) sector in the UAE through a strategic partnership with GRIDSERVE, a leading provider of smart-connected EV charging networks powered by clean energy generation. This collaboration positions GRIDSERVE within Abu Dhabi’s Smart and Autonomous Vehicles Industry (SAVI) cluster, signaling a commitment to advancing the region’s capabilities in sustainable and autonomous mobility.

GRIDSERVE is recognized for its innovative Sun-to-Wheel technology platform, which facilitates net-zero transport by integrating solar energy and batteries into EV charging networks. The company’s focus on delivering sustainable energy aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision for a cleaner and more efficient transportation system. Under the partnership with ADIO, GRIDSERVE aims to leverage the SAVI cluster to expedite the deployment of smart-connected EV charging networks across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Badr Al-Olama, Director General of ADIO, highlighted the comprehensive nature of Abu Dhabi’s SAVI cluster, covering the entire smart and autonomous mobility value chain—from vehicle design and manufacturing to the generation, distribution, and charging of clean energy. The collaboration with GRIDSERVE adds depth to SAVI, representing a crucial stride in establishing a cutting-edge network to power the future of mobility not only in the UAE but globally.

Toddington Harper, CEO of GRIDSERVE, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership and its potential to accelerate climate action. The collaboration with ADIO is poised to propel GRIDSERVE’s initiatives in the region, with a focus on advancing smart and autonomous vehicle applications across Partner Network opportunities in the Middle East and beyond.

Abu Dhabi’s SAVI cluster, situated in Masdar City, provides state-of-the-art facilities and services for the development, testing, and manufacturing of transportation and mobility applications across air, land, and sea. As part of the UAE’s commitment to sustainability, the SAVI cluster aligns with the goal of having half of all cars on the roads in the country electric by 2050. Leveraging Abu Dhabi’s strategic geographical position, SAVI integrates academia, research and development labs, testing facilities, manufacturing units, and logistics networks to support the transition to electric power and the broader adoption of smart and autonomous vehicles.
