In a landmark move solidifying the UAEâs global leadership in sustainable energy, ADNOC has signed a 15-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with energy giant Shell, marking a powerful alliance that will shape the future of clean fuel. The deal covers the delivery of up to 1 million tons per annum (mtpa) of LNG, sourced primarily from the groundbreaking Ruwais LNG project â a cornerstone in ADNOCâs mission to expand its low-carbon energy portfolio and accelerate the global energy transition.
This partnership isnât just about energy â itâs about evolution. The agreement, inked during ADIPEC, underscores ADNOCâs unwavering commitment to sustainability, technological innovation, and long-term energy security. With this deal, more than 80% of Ruwais LNGâs total capacity has already been secured through long-term partnerships across Asia and Europe â an unprecedented achievement in record time that cements the UAEâs status as a dependable, forward-thinking energy supplier to the world.
What makes the Ruwais LNG project stand out is its clean power foundation. As the first LNG export facility in the Middle East and Africa to operate entirely on low-carbon energy, itâs designed to be one of the lowest-emission LNG plants globally. Equipped with artificial intelligence, advanced safety systems, and cutting-edge efficiency measures, Ruwais represents the new generation of intelligent energy infrastructure. When completed, its twin liquefaction trains will more than double ADNOC Gasâ production capacity to approximately 15 mtpa â meeting soaring international demand for cleaner fuel alternatives.
For Shell, this collaboration extends a partnership spanning over half a century, reinforcing mutual trust and a shared vision for sustainable growth. For ADNOC, itâs another strategic leap in transforming from a conventional oil major into a next-generation integrated energy powerhouse.
Together, ADNOC and Shell are not just signing a contract â theyâre rewriting the energy playbook, driving progress toward a cleaner, smarter, and more secure energy future. The message is clear: the age of responsible energy leadership has arrived â and itâs being led from Ruwais. âĄ
