Dubai Police have launched a major crackdown in Al Khawaneej, seizing 23 vehicles and 3 motorbikes that were modified illegally to produce excessive noise, disturbing the peace and safety of the neighborhood. The operation, which targeted reckless drivers who had made alterations to their vehicles to increase engine noise, led to 24 fines being issued to the offenders. Authorities have made it clear that such modifications not only cause noise pollution but also pose significant safety risks to the public, especially in residential areas.
The illegal modifications were made to increase engine speed, resulting in dangerously loud noises that affected the tranquility of the area. This move by Dubai Police is part of a broader effort to address the growing concerns around road safety and the increasing number of vehicles making unauthorized alterations to their engines. These modifications often result in vehicles that not only create unnecessary noise but can also be hazardous to other road users due to the potential increase in speed and instability.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, warned against such reckless behavior, highlighting the severe consequences of both the environmental disturbance and potential safety risks associated with modified vehicles. The penalty for releasing an impounded vehicle could be as high as Dh10,000, underscoring the seriousness with which these offenses are treated. Al Mazrouei further stated that modifying vehicles in ways that cause unnecessary noise disrupts the daily lives of residents, especially in residential areas where families and children should be able to live without such disturbances.
Dubai Police continue to encourage the public to refrain from making any modifications that could compromise the safety and well-being of others on the road. They stressed that such modifications are not only illegal but also dangerous, and they continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety of all citizens and residents in the city.
