From Sharjah with Gains! United Arab Bank Flexes Big in Q1 2025 with 49% Profit Surge 💰📈

United Arab Bank (UAB) is kicking off 2025 like a financial heavyweight, delivering knockout Q1 results that have left the banking world buzzing! Reporting a massive 49% year-on-year surge in net profit, UAB has turned heads with its impressive leap from Dh68 million in Q1 2024 to Dh102 million in Q1 2025 — a clear sign that its strategic playbook is hitting all the right notes.

This jump wasn’t just luck — it was powered by a solid operating performance, robust recoveries, and lower net impairment charges, reflecting a business that knows how to pivot, perform, and prosper. Even better? UAB’s total assets ballooned to Dh23.4 billion, a 31% increase year-on-year, with loans, advances, and Islamic financing mirroring that growth. Investments also saw a healthy 29% rise, and customer deposits surged by 40%, painting a picture of strong market confidence and expanding customer trust.

While many banks are focused on growth or stability, UAB is doing both — and doing it well. The bank maintained a CET1 ratio of 12.6% and a capital adequacy ratio of 17.1%, comfortably above regulatory requirements. It also improved its gross non-performing loan ratio to 3.4% (down from 4.8%), backed by a strong coverage ratio of 118%, proving that it’s not just growing fast — it’s growing smart.

Liquidity? Check. With an advances-to-stable-resources ratio of 73.7% and eligible liquid assets at 18%, the bank has ensured it’s liquid, lean, and ready for whatever comes next.

UAB CEO Shirish Bhide summed it up best, highlighting how the bank’s strategy is delivering tangible results — and with a Dh1.032 billion Rights Issue on the horizon, the bank is gearing up to push even harder. From its humble Sharjah beginnings in 1975, UAB has evolved into a powerhouse in wholesale, retail, treasury, and Shariah-compliant banking — now proudly listed on ADX and racing toward a future filled with sustainable growth and shareholder value.

The message is clear: UAB isn’t just rising — it’s soaring. 🦅📊
