His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan chaired a meeting of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), reviewing key achievements, assessing outcomes of the five-year strategic plan, and discussing progress toward the agency’s 2030 environmental goals. The meeting underscored Abu Dhabi’s continued commitment to sustainability, biodiversity protection, and marine conservation under the UAE’s broader environmental vision.
During the session, EAD presented updates on major initiatives implemented over the past five years, highlighting measurable progress in habitat restoration, species conservation, and environmental monitoring. The review covered improvements in air quality management, waste reduction programs, water resource protection, and climate resilience strategies. These achievements reflect the agency’s integrated approach to balancing development with environmental stewardship.
A central focus of the discussion was biodiversity protection. Abu Dhabi has expanded protected areas, strengthened wildlife conservation programs, and implemented advanced tracking and research technologies to safeguard endangered species. Marine ecosystems also received significant attention, with updates on coral reef restoration, mangrove expansion, and sustainable fisheries management.
