At this high-profile gathering, UAE representatives highlighted the indispensable role of natural gas in ensuring reliable, affordable, and lower-carbon energy while navigating the global transition toward a sustainable, low-emission future. Natural gas, often referred to as the backbone of modern energy systems, offers a unique combination of flexibility, efficiency, and environmental responsibility, emitting 50–60% less CO₂ than coal and 25–30% less than oil. Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Electricity, Water, and the Future Energy Sector at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, underscored the country’s ongoing efforts to advance landmark projects that showcase its commitment to climate-conscious energy solutions. Among these are the Hail & Ghasha development, set to become the world’s first net-zero gas project, producing 1.5 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD) of gas while minimizing carbon emissions. Alongside this, the Ruwais LNG project is poised to double the UAE’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) capacity to 15 million tons per annum, strengthening the nation’s position as a global energy supplier and demonstrating its dedication to sustainable practices.
