Oman jumped from 133rd to 5th in global aviation safety compliance, reflecting significant improvements and adherence to standards

Oman has achieved a remarkable improvement in the global aviation safety compliance index, moving from the 133rd position in 2020 to the 5th position worldwide. This leap reflects significant advancements across eight key areas of aviation safety oversight, demonstrating Oman’s strong commitment to enhancing aviation safety standards.

The compliance index measures the effectiveness of various elements of aviation safety oversight, including legislation, organization, licensing, operations, airworthiness, accident investigation, air navigation services, and aerodromes. Oman’s progress in these areas has been substantial, achieving an impressive score of 95.95 percent, up from 60.47 percent in 2020.

Regionally, Oman has also shown notable improvements, advancing to 2nd place from 10th in the region, and within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), rising from 6th to 2nd place. These regional advancements further underscore Oman’s dedication to upholding and exceeding aviation safety standards.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Oman announced these impressive results during a press conference held at its headquarters in Muscat. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Global Aviation Safety Oversight Audit Program played a crucial role in assessing member states’ compliance with international aviation safety standards. Oman’s high ranking is a testament to the country’s rigorous efforts to align with these standards.

One of the most notable achievements in Oman’s journey to improved aviation safety compliance is its top global ranking in civil aviation legislation, scoring a perfect 100 percent, up from 85.71 percent. This score matches the standards set by 16 other countries worldwide, highlighting Oman’s success in updating and strengthening its civil aviation laws and regulations.

This success reflects Oman’s dedicated efforts to ensure the safety and operational excellence of its aviation sector. The country’s significant rise in the compliance index demonstrates a comprehensive approach to aviation safety, including the implementation of robust safety measures, effective oversight mechanisms, and continuous improvement practices. These efforts have positioned Oman as a global leader in aviation safety, setting a benchmark for other countries to follow.

Overall, Oman’s impressive rise in the aviation safety compliance index is a testament to its commitment to achieving and maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety, benefiting not only the country but also the global aviation community.
