Revved up to $51.7M! Ferrari 250 GTO steals the show in NY auction

At a Sotheby’s auction in New York, a 1962 Ferrari 330 LM / 250 GTO sold for $51.7M (with buyer’s premium), adding a few more gold stars to the already stellar history of the vehicle. It’s the second most expensive car ever sold at auction and the most expensive car of the year. Although other Holy Grail Ferraris have been sold for more money privately, this one is currently the most expensive GTO and Ferrari ever to be sold at auction. It could have brought in more money.

Since last year’s auction, the GTO—Chassis 3765 LM—has generated the most anticipation and conversation since it was announced in August.
