Chaired by Abdulmunem Alhashmi—who wears multiple black belts in leadership as President of the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union and VP of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation—the meeting wasn’t just about reflecting on wins, but planning a full-on submission of the global stage.
With the 17th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship set to take over mats in November, preparations are already in full beast mode. Schedules were analyzed, logistics fine-tuned, and expectations set sky-high for an event that’s now one of the crown jewels of global martial arts. Alhashmi gave a firm nod of appreciation to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for their unwavering support—because when you have champions backing champions, greatness is inevitable.
But it’s not just about one tournament. The Federation has its sights set on a globe-trotting season for the UAE National Team, targeting elite events from Thailand to Croatia and China. This includes training camps, development for all athlete categories, and efforts to make sure local clubs are breeding grounds for future legends.
Vice Chairman Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri emphasized that this isn’t just sport—it’s national branding. Hosting these events cements Abu Dhabi’s rep as a world-class sports hub. The Federation’s blueprint for success includes grassroots development, budget planning, and strategic partnerships designed to keep the UAE on the global jiu-jitsu leaderboard.
