Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with the President of Paraguay on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit 2026, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to expanding international partnerships and deepening cooperation with Latin American nations. The high-level meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations across key sectors, including economic cooperation, trade, investment, clean energy, technology, and logistics, in support of shared development goals.
During the discussions, both sides highlighted the importance of building diversified and forward-looking economic ties. Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan emphasised the UAE’s openness to forging strategic partnerships that promote sustainable growth, innovation, and long-term value creation. The Paraguayan president, in turn, welcomed closer collaboration with the UAE, noting the country’s growing role as a global hub for trade, investment, and advanced technologies.
Trade and investment featured prominently in the talks, with both leaders identifying opportunities to expand bilateral trade flows and encourage private-sector engagement. Paraguay’s strengths in agriculture, renewable energy, and natural resources were discussed alongside the UAE’s expertise in logistics, infrastructure development, and global supply chains. These complementary advantages were seen as a strong foundation for mutually beneficial partnerships.
Clean energy cooperation was another key focus area. Paraguay’s significant renewable energy capacity, particularly in hydropower, aligns with the UAE’s global commitment to clean energy investment and climate action. The discussions explored potential collaboration in renewable energy projects, sustainable infrastructure, and knowledge exchange to support energy transition goals.
Technology and innovation were also highlighted as critical drivers of future cooperation. Both sides recognised the role of digital transformation, smart solutions, and advanced technologies in boosting productivity and competitiveness. Enhanced collaboration in these areas could support economic diversification and job creation in both countries.
Logistics and connectivity were identified as strategic enablers of closer ties, with the UAE’s world-class ports, aviation networks, and logistics platforms offering opportunities to connect Paraguay more effectively to global markets.
The meeting reflects the World Governments Summit’s role as a platform for fostering international dialogue and partnerships that address global challenges and promote inclusive growth. Overall, the discussions between Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan and the Paraguayan president mark an important step toward strengthening UAE–Paraguay relations, laying the groundwork for deeper cooperation that supports sustainable development and shared prosperity.
