The Blue Visa joins the ranks of the UAE’s prestigious residency programs, including the Golden and Green Visas, but with a distinct focus on sustainability and ecological innovation. It represents a bold step toward aligning the country’s residency policies with its commitment to environmental action, inviting the world’s brightest minds in sustainability to collaborate, innovate, and contribute to a greener future.
During the WGS 2025 announcement, Dr. Amna Bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, highlighted that the initiative aims to attract visionaries and changemakers who can drive meaningful progress in combating climate change. She emphasized that by welcoming such talent, the UAE is reinforcing its role as a global sustainability leader. The first phase of the Blue Visa system will see 20 sustainability thought leaders and innovators receiving the visa, with expectations for wider eligibility in the near future.
Eligible candidates can apply directly through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) or be nominated by recognized UAE authorities. The visa allows them to integrate into the UAE’s dynamic ecosystem, access world-class research institutions, and collaborate on groundbreaking sustainability initiatives.
