Umm Al Emarat Park, in partnership with Tadweer Group, has achieved a remarkable milestone by setting a Guinness World Record for creating the largest recycled bottle-cap mosaic. This inspiring achievement highlights Abu Dhabi’s strong commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility, and community engagement, while showcasing how collective action can create meaningful impact.
The record-breaking mosaic was created using thousands of recycled plastic bottle caps, transforming everyday waste into a powerful piece of sustainability-focused artwork. Designed around universal recycling symbols, the mosaic serves as a visual reminder of the importance of responsible waste management and the role individuals play in protecting the environment. More than just an artistic installation, the project stands as a symbol of innovation, creativity, and shared environmental values.
The initiative was part of the “Cap Your Way to Sustainability” outreach campaign, launched by Tadweer Group in collaboration with Umm Al Emarat Park. Through this campaign, schools, families, and community partners across Abu Dhabi were encouraged to collect plastic bottle caps, fostering awareness about recycling and sustainable practices from a young age. By actively involving the community, the project helped translate environmental concepts into hands-on action.
Over two participation periods, families, students, and visitors gathered at Umm Al Emarat Park to contribute to the mosaic. The park offered free entry during designated hours to ensure inclusive participation and encourage residents from all walks of life to take part. In total, 24,846 bottle caps were used, with hundreds of participants contributing their time and creativity to bring the mosaic to life.
The achievement was officially recognised during a special award ceremony held at the park, attended by representatives from Tadweer Group, Umm Al Emarat Park, and Guinness World Records adjudicators. The recognition underscored the project’s success not only in setting a world record, but also in delivering a strong message about sustainability, collaboration, and environmental stewardship.
By uniting art, community involvement, and environmental awareness, Umm Al Emarat Park and Tadweer Group have demonstrated how innovative initiatives can inspire behavioural change. This Guinness World Record stands as a lasting testament to Abu Dhabi’s vision for a cleaner, more sustainable future driven by collective responsibility and community spirit.
