In an impactful meeting between Mohammad Al Gergawi, Secretary General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), and Catherine Russell, Executive Director of UNICEF, a major step towards global child nutrition was taken. The discussion centered on MBRGI’s generous Dh30 million contribution to UNICEF’s Child Nutrition Fund (CNF), a critical initiative aimed at tackling child malnutrition worldwide. This collaboration aims to provide life-saving solutions to over 371,000 children and women by 2027, focusing on four countries initially—Mongolia, Tanzania, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka.
The Dh30 million pledge, made by MBRGI a year ago, represents a significant commitment to UNICEF’s mission of improving child health and nutrition in regions facing critical challenges. With this contribution, MBRGI is not only addressing immediate nutritional needs but is also helping to build sustainable frameworks to combat malnutrition in the long term. The program’s ambitious goal is to improve the lives of vulnerable populations, providing essential food supplements and therapeutic meals to those most at risk, significantly improving the health outcomes for children and mothers in these countries.
During the meeting, Al Gergawi emphasized MBRGI’s mission to reduce hunger and malnutrition globally, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. He underscored the importance of humanitarian efforts in a world increasingly affected by economic crises, conflicts, and climate change, which exacerbate the vulnerabilities of women and children. Through such partnerships, MBRGI is striving to make a sustainable, positive impact on communities and empower those in need.
The partnership between MBRGI and UNICEF not only supports these crucial nutrition initiatives but also contributes to the broader efforts of both organizations in addressing global challenges. As this collaboration unfolds, it will continue to play an essential role in creating tangible, positive change in the fight against malnutrition, improving the lives of countless children and families across the world.
