Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently held high-level discussions with an Italian delegation to enhance cooperation in renewable energy, innovation, and climate action, reflecting a shared commitment to sustainability and the global green economy. The meeting highlighted Dubai’s leadership in clean energy development and Italy’s strong expertise in advanced technologies, research, and sustainable infrastructure.

During the discussions, DEWA showcased Dubai’s ambitious clean energy vision, aligned with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. Central to these efforts is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, one of the world’s largest renewable energy projects, which continues to expand in phases using cutting-edge photovoltaic and concentrated solar power technologies. The solar park stands as a symbol of Dubai’s long-term commitment to reducing carbon emissions, diversifying energy sources, and ensuring energy security.

The Italian delegation expressed strong interest in collaborating on renewable energy technologies, smart grid solutions, energy storage systems, and climate-resilient infrastructure. Both sides emphasized the importance of innovation-driven partnerships, knowledge exchange, and joint research initiatives to accelerate the transition to clean energy and address global climate challenges effectively.

Climate strategies were a key focus of the dialogue, with discussions covering carbon reduction pathways, sustainable urban development, and the role of digitalization in improving energy efficiency. DEWA highlighted its ongoing initiatives in smart meters, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation, which support efficient resource management and reduce environmental impact. These initiatives align closely with Italy’s expertise in green technologies, engineering, and sustainable design, opening doors for mutually beneficial collaboration.

The meeting also reinforced the importance of international cooperation in advancing climate goals. By working together, DEWA and Italian stakeholders aim to contribute to global sustainability efforts, support the circular economy, and promote investments in renewable energy projects. Such collaboration reflects a broader commitment to the principles of the green economy, balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility.

Overall, the discussions marked a significant step toward deeper UAE–Italy cooperation in clean energy and climate innovation. By combining Dubai’s visionary renewable energy projects with Italy’s technological capabilities, both parties reaffirmed their shared goal of building a more sustainable, resilient, and low-carbon future for generations to come.
